Recognized for her expressive singing and strong musicality, Australian-born mezzo-soprano Emily Haswell enjoys a multifaceted career which includes solo concert performances, ensemble performances, studio recording, and instruction. She is in demand throughout Hawaii, her home state, for her ability to quickly prepare artistic performances in a variety of styles including classical, jazz, and folk.
Most recently, Ms. Haswell joined Oahu Choral Society for a solo performance of Handel’s Ombra mai fu. While in Honolulu, Ms. Haswell served as the soprano choral scholar for the choir of Saint Andrew’s Cathedral, alto soloist and chorister for Early Music Hawaii, guest soloist for Maui Masterworks Chorus, soprano section leader for the Honolulu Symphony Chorus, and guest soloist for Bach Vespers at the Lutheran Church of Hawaii.
Since moving to Portland in 2016, Ms. Haswell has remained an active performer and educator, singing with the choir of Saint Mary's Cathedral and joining other Portland-based musicians in chamber concerts and recitals. She has recorded professionally at Dead Aunt Thelma's, and she is pleased to join the Portland chapter of Opera on Tap.
In her music studio, Ms. Haswell creates a positive environment where students are encouraged to explore and express their own creativity, carve out their goals, and uncover a deeper love and understanding of music. She endeavors to increase accessibility to the practice of music and to aid in the enrichment of the arts.
