I have been in choirs and in various other musical settings for 12 years and have experienced many different teaching styles. When I initially started individual voice lessons, I was with an instructor who had a "one teaching method, fits all" approach to teaching. After about 4 months of lessons, I gave up and began looking for a new instructor... someone who would identify my weak points and help me develop a stronger, more balanced voice. After many, many initial interviews, I was very discouraged... until I met Emily. Emily invests in her students. She came up with a daily vocal routine specifically tailored to me and remained in constant communication with me about any questions I had. Not only is she continuously helping me identify my struggles and build technique but she also has taken the time to show me that I have many options of making it as a serious musician. Because of her, I am in the process of re-evaluating my whole academic plan. I am so grateful to have found such an amazing, talented, and skilled instructor! I am learning so much from her continuously!

It's hard to find the right piano teacher. But when I found Emily I knew I needed to look no further. I have been taking piano lessons on and off 20 years and within the first few lessons she taught me elements of theory and artistry that I had never seen from a teacher. She is patient, thoughtful and an expert in her craft. She listens and selects pieces that are inspirational to my taste and builds a curriculum to my skill level (intermediate) and pushes me just enough to help me feel confident while still learning new skills.

I’m an adult learner trying to become a better singer for fun. It’s a bit awkward learning something new, especially at this point in my life. I haven’t tried singing very seriously since I was very young and it’s a bit nerve wracking to try and get better after all these years. Not only is Emily a great teacher, but she made me feel immediately at ease. I would highly recommend taking lessons from her.

Emily was amazing to work with! From the very first lesson, she was quickly able to find the unique qualities with my voice, think of creative techniques to improve my vocal abilities, and helped me work on solo pieces of my own that would fit my particular range. I've discussed with multiple Voice Instructors that I've found on Thumbtack and I found Emily to be a cut above the rest. I would highly recommend anyone to sign up through her!

I am currently studying both voice and piano with Emily. She has been incredibly versatile in her ability to guide me through a wide range of genres such as classical, R&B, rock, pop, and beyond. She has a great ear, firm + expansive understanding of theory/vocal technique, and is easy to understand. She is quick to gain insight into her students goals and then helps them to take ownership of their talents to pursue it to the highest degree. The dedication and value she brings to her students is astounding. There is a large emphasis on community, and out of that she has organized many successful get-togethers where her students can share what they’ve been working on with others. I can’t even describe how fortunate I am to be under the tutelage of someone who is not only extremely knowledgeable, but someone who takes a genuine interest in her students. Emily cares deeply about each individual beyond their musical endeavors. She’s quickly become a valued and cherished friend.

Emily is very warm and good at coaxing! My son had been reluctant to practice and she came up with a way that now we do not have to remind him, he'll just go to the piano and play! My daughter is taking voice from her as well and is excited to come each lesson.

Emily is fantastic. We are still working together and after a few months of practice my singing has improved so much. I'm actually preparing to sing in front of strangers again! (Which is NOT something she makes you do.) Her teaching style is very positive and constructive. I've always gotten helpful feedback and felt encouraged (even when frustrated) with my progress. If you want help singing, try her out!

Emily has been a great piano instructor thus far. She moves at my pace and answers all of my curious questions. It's a very easy but productive process. I also really like that she asks about which songs inspire me and knows how to play them. She suggested keyboards and gives me homework but is okay with the fact that I'm busy and don't always get to practice. Definitely recommend!

I got voice lessons from Emily for a couple months, very reasonable pricing, very friendly and she was good with working around my schedule. The lessons were on point and I was picking up new techniques and exercises with every lesson. Would highly recommend taking lessons from her, the only reason I'm not anymore is because she moved!

For the past few years, I have worked with various vocal coaches and Emily is the best of them all. Previously, I only sang pop music with my teachers. Emily expanded my musical horizons. She not only taught me new foundations and introduced me to new genres for me to sing, but she also made me learn and understand my voice better. Actually I was thinking about quitting singing, but Emily gave me the inspiration to sing once again. Anyone who has her for a teacher is extremely lucky.

Emily is by far the best voice teacher I've had the pleasure of working with. In the past, I've had voice lessons from other teachers who were referred to me because of their years of experience, but this just translated into working with someone who was set in their ways and styles of teaching. Emily helps you explore your vocal abilities while providing techniques and critiques on improving. She is able to meet the client where they are at whether it is children, college students, or adults and helps them build their self-confidence. Emily is an extremely passionate person and accomplished musician.

Super good music instructor. I really enjoyed working with her, she's very friendly and patient, leading me through various voice cycles specifically to fit my voice and to gradually increase my tone, pitch, and to basically find my best voice. Emily was our voice teacher for 7 months. My husband and I noticed marked improvement in our vocal abilities. Emily challenged us with exercises and music repertoire. She is very capable on the piano and exceptional in her vocal abilities. We would highly recommend her as a voice and piano instructor.
